    i use white paint and the kiss method... 5" white marks for each 25',
    10" for each 100'... highly visible at night even from the flybridge where
    i usually operate the windlass from to assist with engines as needed. last
    about 20 times before more paint has to be aplied, here in flrodia i rarely
    have to use more than 100' so re painting 3 or 4 marks isn't a big deal, I
    can do it from the fwd stateroom thru a small access door to the locker.

    I tried other things but not visible enough.
