That is a dissappointing "answer." Of course, ACCO could make such a link for each grade and size of chain. I'll bet that this is one of those liability issues where they don't want to be sued if a link breaks because the customer didn't pean the rivest adequately.
I think your only alternative is a galvanized shackle that is HT. Defender carries three different grades. Norm says to stay away from stainless and besides, if you find graded stainless, it usually is not as strong as G40.
I think the shackle will cause a minor burp for the windlass, but work nonetheless. You may wish to use Locktite and hacksaw off the ear of the shackle pin. I did this to accomodate my bow roller.
