Ah, I see, you're talking over a long period of time
with no other charging taking place.
In a car the pulses may be a small enough drain so
that the discharge effect is not significant, much
like the drain of keeping the permanent memory powered
on some car radios.
But yeah, in a boat where no charging may take place
for a long time... But then you'd probably want solar
or wind or trickle charging anyway.
