It would seem to me that a water pump impeller that had lost
a vane, tooth, or whatever we call it, was failing. Those
things rely on the strength of the vanes to pump the water.
The higher the RPM, the more strength required.
I would re-assemble the whole thing with the new pump
impeller and try it again, watching the temperature closely!
