Hmmm. I cannot agree about the use of Petit's easypoxy. Unless they've
made some improvements since I last used it 15 years ago, it is a poor
choice. The "epoxy" part is not a two part epoxy mix but just ground up
epoxy powder that is used as a filler. Epoxy is a bad choice for a filler
since it deteriorates under UV radiation. We did the deck on top of our
salon and it went chalky within 18 months in the Florida sun.

I do agree that Awlgrip is worth every (extra) penny you have to spend on
it. If you count the labor, the material cost is a minor consideration and
you should use the best you can get. The Awlgrip we replaced the Easypoxy
with has a typical life of about 6 to 10 years depending on various factors.

    Regards,

    Andina Marie Foster,

    > Hi Sam, I can't really offer any hard facts on topsides paint. I've used
Petit's easypoxy, but it does fade (especially the darker colors). I would
suggest awlgrip as it's other charastics such as adhesion and durability far
exceed that of any one-part paint I've used. I can only suspect that it may
also be better in the fade resistance department. If you plan on keeping
your boat in s. FL or the tropics, I would suggest that you reconsider using
a dark color, though. The deck under black paint can actually get hot
enough to damage the resin and foam of your cabintop, not to mention the
    added temps in the cabin.

yours. Is your Lady of the Lake the former Techno Cat? or is it the other
way around? I thought Techno Cat is currently available for sale at
"www.pdq36.com" or is that just an old website that has not been removed?
Is your port aft cabin set up as an office and if so, how does that work
out? If I buy a pdq, I plan to re-do the aft port as either a workshop or
office and have been looking for ideas.
