    Hi Brad,

I have had a boat at Northwest Creek Marina for several years and several
hurricanes. No damage yet. The dockmaster is very good at looking after
things during storms and is very diligent in making things safe for boats
    and people.

It may be worth while to contact him to see if you like the place and the
people. I lived aboard for two years until I got married. I still have a
boat there, but I live across the river now.

Subject: lv-ab: Re: New Bern area

I'm considering relocating from the Baltimore-Annapolis area to
the New Bern area for my retirement. I only briefly passed
through the area around Oriental on my way down the ICW in 1999
but found it to be very nice. My question is how is the area
for live aboard types, the sailing area and cruising grounds and
some good anchorages? I have a catamaran so have shallow draft.
Also of concern are good areas near New Bern to use as
hurricaine holes as I don't think my boat would be safe riding
out a big storm at a dock. Thanks,

    Brad
