    Hi Randy,

I have seen this kind of periodic behavior in a automotive A/C unit when a
pin hole in the condenser leaked the gas. If you are filling the system with
a small bottle, immersing the bottle in a pot of boiling water helps
transferring the contents into the system. If adding gas changes the 30
second ON, 10 second OFF timing where the ON time is elongated, more gas may
solve the problem. Motor windings have thermal protectors that interrupt the
ON time if the compressor freezes but it is unlikely that the winding can
cool down in 10 seconds to re-start. It is plausible that the pressure
sensor in the intake is hitting the low limit.

    Good luck,

    Ahmet
