Hi Fred,
We looked at one of these during the Miami Sail Show last February. It
was a nice, fairly light boat. But there is definitely a trade off in
the sense it will not handle a larger engine. We would have considered
it except for lack of ability to handle a good sized outboard, which
we wanted so that we could be our own Towboat US when we eventually run
aground. Norm and Bandersnatch get credit for persuading us with a
first hand demonstration. We were with them for a day in 2002 when they
went aground solidly in Virginia and we observed the ease with which
their 30 hp motor rescued their boat and pulled it into deeper water
after 10 minutes work, when they otherwise would have been stuck
solidly.
This is our first year on the Chesapeake. On our first time out, we
were up a creek, figuratively and literally (Hunting Creek near St.
Michaels, MD). We put our Johnson (15 hp) to the same use that
afternoon (actually we went aground a 2nd time and third time too
within 15 minutes) and got off quickly each time. (no puns intended).
Their pudgy tender/lifeboat has advantages over a liferaft, and would
be similar to the Walker Bay when used as a tender.

I recently saw this dinghy. Sorry if it has been written about before,
but I haven't seen it on the List.
