Hi All,
I thought the clear bowls on sediment bowls were glass?
I think they should be as most plastics will not do well if
containing petroleum products. The last sediment bowl I had
personal experience with was on a VERY old (about 1950?) 7.5
HP outboard motor. It was thick glass. I was glad it was
there, as the previous owner had PAINTED!!! the INTERIOR of
the integral fuel tank and I had to clear out the little
green paint fragments constantly to keep the engine running.
I keep getting told that I may NOT get a fuel tank built
with the fuel line exiting from the lowest point of the tank
because IF a leak develops all the fuel will leave the tank.
Since the engine is going to be BELOW any fuel tank, what
is supposed to stop all the fuel from SIPHONING out of the
tank through the standard 'dip' tube type arrangement???
Am I stupid? Or do the laws of physics not apply to fuel
tank regulations?
I would LOVE to here the reason for this 'rule'.
If I could see better I would take a class and weld my own
tank any way I like!
Ok, enough venting, for now...
