Ariild mentioned Little Dog Channel in Georgian
Bay...I'm the cruising editor (Georgian Bay/North
Channel) for the new Waterways Guide Great Lakes
edition coming out next year...here is a segment of an
article I wrote soon to be published in a national
magazine...
Navigating the South Channel out of Parry Sound is far
more challenging than any section of the ICW. If I
told my southern boating friends that I sail regularly
through channels here not much wider than my boat,
with six inch depths a boathook length away, (think
Point au Baril, or entering Woods Bay), they would
think me crazy to do so. Yet, throughout Georgian Bay
and the North Channel, these are often the conditions
we experience.
If you want to sink your boat, using electronic
navaids is the quickest way to do so up here...I
absolutely advise my readers NOT to do so...and to use
their PORT instrument...Positive Optical Recognition
Technology - otherwise known as your eyes <g>
