I'd like some suggestions where I can find a decent marinized 12v electric
    diesel fuel pump.
thanks in advance for your thoughts,

The one I use is from NAPA, Balkamp electric fuel pump BK.610-1016.

This is an impulse type pump with internal strainer. Fuel can flow through
this pump just like a squeeze-bulb outboard type hand pump. It would be wise
to install another strainer between the pump and the tank and a bypass valve to
allow the fuel to pass around the pump in case the pump's internal strainer,
which is rather fine, becomes completely fouled.

This pump tops out at about 7psi and sells for about $120.

I do use a vane type pump as a fuel transfer pump because I got a couple
cheap at a flea market, but these pumps do not allow the feed-through that an
    impulse pump does.

I have used several over the course of 27K miles cruising and can recommend
    them.

You might want to look up a more complete description of my fuel system in
the archives under Bandersnatch's Fuel System.
