I just had a good experience with a hardware company and believe they
deserve a plug.
I bought on eBay a Blue Sea Systems 12v panel that has a dozen circuit
breakers, voltage, and ammeter. The listing said "new in box" and it
was, as is often the case, an original but rather worn box, with no
manual or other papers inside. The panel itself was clean and clearly
had never been used. (Cables still had labels over the bare ends.)
After d/l the manual from the company website I began preparing for the
install when I realized there was a part missing: an external shunt.
Searching the website I found a page with shunts (about $40), but no
indication from the manual which specs were required.
I sent an email off to Blue Seas customer service explaining my problem
and inquiring which shunt would be the right one to buy. I got an email
back today:
> Thank you for your inquiry. The shunts are available to order
> separately, but I am happy to replace the missing one. They have a
> nasty habit of disappearing without explanation, or payment.
>
> I will ship one, to the address you provided below, today.
>
> Best regards,

They had no obligation to do this. But they have won my support for any
other electrical panels or distributors I need.
