Actually, in Florida you are only required to have PIP (Personal Injury
Protection) coverage and only $10,000 of it. PIP only covers your medical
bills and/or a percentage of lost wages. There is no required coverage for
damage to your car (collision), damage to the other guy's car (property
damage coverage), for turning the small child you hit into a paraplegic
(liability coverage), if a tree falls on your car (comprehensive coverage),
or if the that guy without 2 cents to his name speeds through a red light
while chatting away on his cell phone and puts you in the Intensive Care
Unit of the local hospital (Uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage).
In its wisdom, however, our legislature does require anyone operating a
Merry go round to have $1,000,000 of insurance. Go figure.

How many states allow you to operate a car without
insurance? You hit my car, you fix it. You hit my
boat, you fix it. It's called RESPONSIBILITY. You're
not just taking the chance of losing your boat, but a
chance of being financially responsible for the
results of YOUR actions.
Sorry if this hurts your feelings, but it might be
time to wake up and be responsible.
