You should take the boat to Trinadad. For $14K you could get her competely refitted and then sail her back to Miami.
You could probably get quite a party crew together just from this list :)

try getting a quote for various times of the year. there are such things as high and low season for shipping. my first quote was $12,500 for my tri of 36 X 20 in october. i opted for a february date at $8,000 which was considered low season for shipping from europe to the usa. i do admit that they have changed the pricing structure since i shipped but it should not turn out to be that much of a difference.
just my thoughts.

I should have also mentioned, at the moment it's August,....the next ship date is for March 2005. (for the quote I got) I still don't see 14K a bargain from St Thomas to Miami. (other quotes listed are europe to US)
I can see the time/wear tear for 4K, from Miami to St John, but next time call me,...I'll do it dam near free.;-)
MY issue with the 56' was/is safety and seaworthiness...highly questionable propulsion, (engine/transmission/stuffing box/prop) and rigging....fit to tow, not fit to sail.
Regards,
Patrick
