My company recently transfered me from Ft Lauderdale to St Thomas and the cost of shipping my 32 ft catamaran was $4100. Considering what it would have cost me in time and wear-and-tear on both me and the boat I think it was a bargin. There's probably a cost vs size question to decide here. If I could take my little coastal cruiser across the Atlantic for, say, $10,000, then I can spend a couple of years gunkholing the Med and the British Isles. Coming back is just a matter of going downwind at the right time of year even for a small boat.
