I kind of have the same experience but have been very laptop focused
throughout my career mostly because of international mobility. However,
before this descends into a flame war over Macs vs. PCs though, I just
want to state to anyone reading this : If you like Windows and you're
happy with it, then stay with it. Everyone has different computing
needs -- so research yourself, make your own choices and switch if you
like. I am just presenting alternatives that I've found worked
    exceptionally well for me.

The GPS navigation software I spoke of for Mac OSX is here :
    http://www.gpsnavx.com/

(please let me know what you think of the soft. It's shareware I
believe, so you can try before buy. There are a few like it though I
believe this one is the consistently highest rated. I have no
connection with the company in question in case it's not obvious.)

And, I totally agree with you. *Never* had a better laptop... without
hyperbole, I'd say it's made me at least 5x as productive as when I was
on a windows platform and managed to harmonize my work and personal
lives while keeping my fridge clean. Also, I get more dates with
    supermodels now... =}

    ciao and fair winds !
    Daryl.
