I'm planning to move the boat to the Chesapeake this Sept(3rd or 4th
week)and it looks like I won't have experienced crew so I think the direct
off shore route from Block Island to Cape May is not an option especially
where it is the tail end of hurricane season. From the Cape Cod canal down
Long Island Sound looks like the route. Does anyone have a favorite route
East to West that is geared for shortest time? I'd ideally like to be
positioned near the intercoastal so that later (Nov-Dec) I could hop down
and do the ditch. Is 2 weeks from Mid Coast Maine to Norfolk area a
reasonable goal? I always tend to be overly optimistic. I think 10 days
would do it it if there was an overnite across the Gulf of Maine and another
    one along the route.
