    Subject: T&T: Katama Anchorage Restrictions

For those of you who are incensed at Edgartown closing the Katama anchorage,
here's a note from my friend who is really pissed! I plan to do some
eyeball to eyeball research when I get over to Edgartown next week. I might
even drop the hook and see if I get arrested! The nice thing about being a
retired cruiser is I've got all the time in the world! "I know you guys
will bail me out!" Maybe Charles has a license to practice in Massachusetts?

    Hi phil,

I had a long conversation with Rich Roach at the army corps of engineers
about anchoring in Katama bay and its approaches! In a nutshell he told me
that it was illegal for the harbor master to even place the sign in the
water stating that there was no anchoring allowed! He encouraged me to speak
to all and any interested parties and to speak to Linc especially. The town,
State and the corps all share control of the tidewaters but ultimately the
feds have jurisdiction. They went through all of this in new harbor and it
was resolved by allowing anchoring as well as town owned moorings. theres
much more and I have names and numbers of Mass state officials and CG people
to contact .. The squeaky wheel will get the grease..

                                              Regards....
