lv-ab: Boat US Insurance

    We have tried them all and still think that Boat US insurance is the best deal for cruising and sailing in North American waters and Bahamas. I think Tim Holock may be wrong about Boat US being the same as West Marine. Boat US sold their boat retail operation to west marine, but their other core businesses remain Boat US. Boat US, the corporation, is not a subsidiary of West Marine (to my knowledge).
     
    Just about all of the insurance companies that insure "yachts" , raised their premiums after the first of this year. Some say it was to cover losses due to Isabel..........you be the judge of that. Some of the insurance companies that primarily write auto and home policies will not provide the same level of coverage for boats, i.e. oil spill, liveaboard cruising, lightening, etc.
