The newton (symbol N) is the metric system unit of force: the force
required to accelerate a one-kilogram mass at one meter per second per
second. Since one kilogram is about 2.2 pounds (mass), and the
acceleration of gravity is about 9.8 m/s^2, one newton is a force equal
to the weight of about 0.22 pounds of mass. That is, 1 N = 0.22 pounds
of force.
Therefore, 11.3 kN is about 2537 lbs force.

Prev post mentioned tubular climbing webbing to be used for jacklines
was avail from REI. There are several widths avail, which would be
best, 1" or 9/16" width? 9/16 "Climbing Spec" lists strength at 11.3
kilonewtons, not a
familiar unit to me, is it enough strength? Cost from REI is nothing
($.22/ft) compared to West Marine pre made pieces at about $45/side. Lee
