When it is in the tuning mode it cuts back to 50 Watts automatically and
only goes to 300 watts when it has the antenna tuned. Even at 50 watts,
when the antenna is being tuned the whole boat comes alive. All the engine
oil alarms go off, the pilot house lights glow, the TV quits, the VHF
squalks etc..
Reminds me of the switch in the cockpit of a Phantom jet fighter that lights
up every lightbulb on the instrument panel to test them. It is quite
impressive.
