lv-ab: Lights & Solar Panels

I just completed two more projects towards cruising, and wanted to pass
    along some feedback.

I installed the Orca Green LED running lights (fitted in Aqua Signal
enclosures). They are brighter than the lights that were removed, and the
Amp meter barely moves when they're turned on. At $54 each they weren't
out of my price range. It's cheaper if you buy the Aqua Signal lights
elsewhere, I bought mine at Ship's Store.

I've been debating with myself for several years as to where to put solar
panels on my 42' ketch. Hard dodger, dingy davits...? I ended up
attaching a 1" stainless rail with bimini hardware to the stern rail, just
above the life line, running it forward about 4 1/2 feet to a new stantion,
braced to the aft cabin. A 70W panel straddles this rail and attaches with
thumb screw clamps so it can swivel 180 degrees. I put one on each side so
I have 140W. I'm pleased with the results. If anyone wants pictures you
    can email me direct.
