Then things got interesting. the owner took me into his back room and
showed me a half dozen BIG 12 volt AGM batteries with no brand name nor
markings. He said they were "kinda like blems". They had strange posts
too, the kind you can bolt your cables to but the top is cut off through
the hole to make it u shaped. I said , how much? $25.00 each but with no
warenty. He did what I think he called a "load test" where he put a 20
amp load on one and it took 176 minutes to draw it down.
Your story reminds me of something in my distant past.
There was a time in my life when I sold a lot of equipment to automobile
dealerships.
These negotiations were always between the dealership owner and my self.
At the beginning of each negotiation, I would preface the event as
follows:
"Usually you are selling and I am buying, but this time the roles are
reversed."
"I try to operate on the philosophy that you can not f**k and honest
man."
"Given that, how do you want to do business?"
Every one of those dealers knew exactly where I was coming from and we
always had a great business relationship.
Some of those guys are really neat people.
To put it a little more bluntly, if you want to get f**ked in a
transaction, be greedy.
After all, it is usually only the seller that knows the true value
involved in the transaction.
Ever wonder why doctors and lawyers are such easy marks for con artists?
BTW, want longer battery life, then install a minimum of at least 6,
preferably more, T-105 batteries as a house bank.
