This can get bad enough to lose prime
even while the A/C is on.
I had a problem with AC seawater circuit loosing prime because the
installation instructions stated that the circuit should be an inverted U. I was
inexperienced then and foolishly followed printed instructions even when a little
thought would have shown they were wrong, like the one in the Detroit Diesel
manual that states that the fuel pick-up tube should be 10% of the tank height
above the bottom of the tank.
I eventually put a bleed valve at the top of the U to let out the air but
whenever I got underway air would still get into the circuit. Eventually I
installed another seacock higher than the pump and had no further trouble. The
suction seacock is lower than the pump and the discharge seacock is higher than
the pump.
