Intersting. I've used silicone for a number of solutions after
finding my various gasket compounds always leaked. However, it's
always been diesel. I suppose a good cork gasket would work, but
I never had the material out in the middle of nowhere. The
silicone swells up and makes a better seal over time, just as
rubber would swell up. I didn't realze it would not work with
gasoline.
I guess that is part of the value of this list. We find the best
(and learn what the worst) solutions for problems are.
