We had Arione, a Mason 44 with 6'7" draft and 12'3"
beam, trucked from Anacortes, WA to Richmond, CA when
we bought her. I believe we needed an escort car in
Oregon, but nowhere else. The requirements vary by
state -- obviously, on the east coast, you've got more
states to worry about than we did.
I'd check with a trucking company, rather than simply
take the broker's word (being cynical here, but the
broker may well have more friends who are delivery
captains than s/he does who are boat movers). Any
boat transport company has the equipment for moving
large boats should know the requirements inside and
out and be able to tell you what's involved.
