There is a supplier of fire control equipment in my hometown who told me
that he still had halon systems that he could sell me for use on my boat.
Would it make sense to purchase such a system or would it be better to
purchase a system using the new halon substitute?
Also I was wondering if anyone has an emergency electrical shutoff switch
located near the companionway. I have the standard battery selector
switch, which functions simply as a shutoff switch for my house bank since
I only have one bank, but the selector switch is right where a fire would
occur. Also, I do not have any easy way to shut off the power to the
starter. Would a solinoid switch work and make any sense? It seems that
if I could shut off the electricity as I was escaping combined with an
automatic fire extinguisher system, I might be able to save my boat without
endangering my life.
I eagerly await your great advice.
