I have Sprint, and data charges are as much if not more. I went with
dial-up....went to Radio Shack and bought the software and cable to
connect phone to computer. I had to add $5/month to my phone service so
that computer time would be deducted from my plan minutes, which is
annoying, but cheaper than the wireless data plan. It works great for
    occasional checking of email.

I imagine that Verizon has the same kind of set up...you might check out
Radio Shack and see what's available.

I looked at Verizon (my cell provider) and they want $80/mo for data. I

was looking to use dial-up on my SBC internet account, for very casual,
email use. I wouldn't mind the slow speed.

Anybody using dial-up on their cell phone?

    Thanks,
