I see that Verizon calls their system "National Access" with bundles
of minutes for voice and data starting at $35/month, and you probably
need a new phone. Not really cheap if you want to use a lot of
minutes. Unfortunately, with digital cellular, your phone is not
really a modem-it uses the data network provided by your cellular
carrier to access your ISP or the cellular carriers network. You
can't simply dial into your ISP and do anything useful. I don't think
anyone is selling analog plans anymore. If you are otherwise happy
with Verizon, you need to talk to them about changing your plan to one
that includes data. Other carriers provide similar services, but I
don't know of one offering new plans that would be significantly
    better. Good luck; Ed.
