    .:. 1. Halon (now discontinued due to it's effects on the
    .:.ozone layer) is the fastest, most effective, non-toxic,
    .:.NON-RESIDUE fire extinguishing agent ever found by man.

    But there are Halon 1211 replacements, FM200 & FE241, sometimes called Halon
    II. Like the original, it will stop an explosion in progress, leaves no
    residue, won't harm electronics or engines, & can be breathed for short
    periods of time. Also, like the original, Halon II will pump through an
    engine and out the exhaust, meaning you need to shut down the power plant or
    you'll pump your fire suppressant overboard. I have an automatic Fireboy in
    the engine room charged with FE-241.

    A word about CO2. Because of its higher density when compressed & in high
    enough concentration, like spraying it directly into your intake to kill a
    run away diesel, will bend the rods and destroy the engine.
