     Hello to all,
At this time I think it is important to review a few
    facts.

     1. Halon (now discontinued due to it's effects on the
ozone layer) is the fastest, most effective, non-toxic,
NON-RESIDUE fire extinguishing agent ever found by man.
     2. CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) is ALMOST as good. The real
difference (ask the NASCAR and INDY racers) is that
Halon has the ability to actually stop an
explosion-IN-PROGRESS while CO2 will simply extinguish
    any subsequent flames.
     3. Since most of the people on this blist (except me)
are absolute deisel fanatics, There Is No Risk Of
    Explosion in the first place.
     4. THEREFORE, Any "engine room", or "enclosed space"
fire suppression device you can buy is a GOOD THING to
install!! Wheather it is CO2 or another gas.
I don't care wfat anybody says, any good fire
suppression system WILL REQUIRE that you evacuate the
    area INNEDIATELY!!!

IF YOU HAVE AN INBOARD ENGINE ,BUY AND INSTALL THE CO2
(or any other legal) FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM AS SOON AS
    YOU CAN AFFORD ONE!!!
Otherwise, DON'T REST EASY!!! There are PLENTY of
other ways to start a destructive, and possibly fatal,
    fire!
