FWIW - I got to thinking of options for wiring this radio. It was given to
me by my sister in barely used condition. (I like free stuff that works!)
I'm an electronics geek courtesy of the USCG. I have a bunch of computer
parts that I am still in the process of tossing. One thing that came to mind
was that, although plugs may not be standard, for the most part, the pins
sizes are. Computer power supplies have several duplicate plugs that are
used to power mostly for drives (i.e. floppy, cd, hard drives, etc). I was
able to cut the plastic part of the plug away, leaving the female ends. They
fit the pins on the back of most radios perfectly. A little shrink wrap on
the pin protects this from shorting out, while tie wraps keep the bundle
secure. I'll be keeping a bundle of these discarded plugs onboard for
emergency & general repairs. (It goes without saying - make sure there is a
secure fit over the pin on the radio. Loose connections are notorious for
    damaging equip and starting fires.)
