    Interesting. I would think it would provide some protection from flying
    objects breaking out the glass, but not a huge wave crashing into the
    window, where it would basically knock out the whole assembly if it wasn't
    strong enough. If you were to use it, I'd certainly put it on the inside, to
    help protect it. I'm sure that over the long run, it would get scratchy and
    lose some clarity due to UV exposure. Of course it wouldn't be that big a
    deal to replace if you could get the old stuff off fairly easily.
