Subject: lv-ab: weather
For those who sail on the ocean and deride Great Lakes sailors, the
current marine weather forecast for Georgian Bay is 35 - 45 knot winds, seas
3 - 4 metres - for those who aren't metric, that's 9 - 13 feet.
Now, that's no big deal on the ocean, but remember this...the wave period
is about 4 seconds from trough to trough...that means that every four
seconds, your bow is smacking into another several tons of water whereas in
the ocean, you would simply ride up the swell.
