I'm proposing to manufacture a high efficiency solar charge controller.
It is a simple device with one lead to the solar panel, one to the battery
    bank(s) and one to ground.
No adjustments, no meters, no LEDs, no alarms, no maintenance.
It has a zero voltage drop diode so it eliminates the need for any isolation
diode on your solar panel and can save about 5% of the wasted energy.
It draws no current from the battery - well nearly zero - the voltage
    sensing draws 10 microamps.
It draws no current from the solar cell - well nearly zero - 100 microamps,
the equivalent of 1 amp-hour every 5 to 10 years.
It has a regulator cut off voltage of 14.2, non adjustable. A customer
installed external resistor, sized to the battery bank can provide a trickle
maintenance charge when the main charging has finished.
It can handle solar cell arrays up to 50 amps.
Waterproof (submersible), temp range -40 to 85C.
Retail price would be in the $79 to $99 range.
Any opinions, suggestions? Is there already such a device?
You can reply off the board to save traffic unless you think your comments
    have general interest.
    Thanks everyone,
    Andina Foster,
