............As we were leaving N'orleans, we were visited at the dock by a
curious onlooker. Anthony is a retired engineer, and now spends time with
his airplane and his inventions. The marina shared a boarder with the
municipal airport, and Anthony came over to look at the boat. We got to
talking, and found out that he is the inventor of "Dimpletape." An adhesive
tape with holes, it is applied to the thickest part of an airfoil, and using
the same principal as a golf ball, increases lift and reduces drag by
creating micro-turbulence. He wanted to know if we might be interested in
trying some on our wind generator. So, we gave it a go, and sure enough,
what a difference! Our model AirMarine is notorious for the amount of
sound it makes. Well, the tape has cut out about 70% of that sound.
Anthony claims that you can get a 10% improvement in gas mileage if applied
to a late model car. http://www.dimpletape.com
