5) WHen the chainplates were replaced by the former owner, they werent
sealed for quite some time. THere is funky carpet in several areas taht

We got carpet and the ridiculously thin, deteriorated open cell foam posing
as insulation off with white spirit - lots of it!! Ventilate well, but it
comes off in the end.
Use a good contact adhesive to replace - in UK Thikafix has been best. We
found it wasn't worth trying to get cheaper subs as the stuff comes off
again. We have used 9mm closed cell foam (but would use 6mm next time) and
then stuck carpet brought from an auto outfitters (catering to the
caravan/camper van market) to cover it, and it's working very well.
Temperatures are now dropping on the English South coast and we'er keeping
nice and warm.
So the misery (and it was) has been worth it.
