Happy Fourth of July!!!!
This morning (00:10 PST) I ordered a CPU for my new
motherboard. $113.15 including tax, shipping, and
handling for a 1.13 Ghz Pentium 3 with 133 Mhz FSB and
256 Kbytes L2 cache.
Combined with my $35.59 motherboard and 1 512 Mbyte ram
module (not yet purchased) this will be quite a change
for me!
I currently use a 133 Mhz Pentium with 80 Mbytes ram
and it takes 2 minutes to boot! I can't run CDROM
authoring software (all the rom burner manufacturers say
166 Mhz minimum) or satisfactorily display video (I get
about 1 frame every 1.5 seconds).
One more month until I can purchase the ram and then I
will be able to do such stuff.
