It was a cell phone, (actually one of the analog car phones in a bag with
a large battery supply and antenna.
It had almost the range of a car phone with the same output power.
It lacked the ground plane effect of the car body, so the range was
slightly reduced.
These are now dinosaurs and you can get them for free from anyone who forgot
to
throw theirs away. There is nothing wrong with them, except that the phone
Co's
don't want to support the analog service and the charges can be really high.
