    Use the SS split rings (the ones that look like key rings) don't use cotter
    rings. They tend to catch on things and open up. I've never had an issue
    with SS Split rings. cotter Pins on the other hand should be banned. they
    cause more tearing, and cuts than they are worth. I use split rings for all
    my rigging.
