lv-ab: Vanguard Masthead

I am still fishing for ideas to replace the masthead on my Pearson Vanguard.
Photos of my current masthead "bridle" are on Dan P.'s site at

    http://www.pearsoninfo.net/vanguard/notes.htm

I would like to discard the referenced SS bridle and cast aluminum masthead
(pictured in the 4th photo on Dan's site) and replace with a gallows type
masthead fabricated from 3/8" to 1/2" aluminum stock. The gallows type
masthead that I envision would have two small sheaves, one fore and one aft,
for the jib halyard and the topping lift. I would retain the original main
halyard sheave. The stays would attach to the fore and aft ends of this
new masthead while the shrouds would be attached to SS tangs through-bolted
at the top of the mast.

I am sure that others of you must have a similar setup. I am looking for any
input, but particularly, how to mount the sheaves and stays to this aluminum
masthead. Would it be acceptable to put a SS bolt through the 3/8" or 1/2"
    aluminum for the sheaves?

    Thanks for the input.
