    There are lots of nice anchorages in that area -- such as Inlet
    Creek; but I'm not sure you can easily reach shore from any of them.

    Charlston itself -- can anchor across from the City Marina or Ashley,
    but holding is poor, and it's usually crowded.

    Ashley is unfriendly to anchored boats, but the City Marina does have
    a dingy dock (the dock used to be inaccessible at low tide, but maybe
    that's changed)
