Another thing when considering new technology for a boat.
Imagine throwing a bucketful of salt water on whatever you are considering and then getting back to a safe harbor.
Yes, I HAVE taken that into consideration...the prop motor and controller will be well protected, the motor and controler I will use are both sealed. The generator itself will be the weakest point, but is protected from any such direct exposure, and if for any reason DOES sustain a failure, I will have a few hours operation available under battery power, which can be recharged from wind and sun. In fact, one of the design goals is to further increase redundancy and reliability. Of course, the fact that I never have to rely on the engine anyhow, as the boat sails really well, and in a pinch, if the entire scheme went awry, I would still be fine, is part of the big picture, just as it would be, or rather was, when I had a 'normal' aux engine.-Ken
