Friends: We have done our research and now this is what we are doing: I am dealing with www.floridamarinetanks.com. They have been very helpful. Since we would have to cut out a piece of the fiberglass on the starboard sail locker in order to remove and replace the 50 gallon tank, we have decided to downsize from 50 gal. to about 30 gal. This way we can cut up the old tank and remove it in pieces. Then the new tank is sized to fit into the starboard sail locker and behind the engine under the cockpit sole. I don't think there will be a problem with cruising since we get 3 hours per gallon it will give us about 4 days of engine time. We are coastal cruisers thus would have ample opportunity to fuel up. It won't change the weights and balances too much since we are only loosing 100 lbs and the tank will be located exactly where the old one is.
Sorry for the delay since the last update but we have fallen into the Southern/retired mode and have slowed down.
