lv-ab: UPDATE to Wanna be Interviewed?

    Hi, Everybody!

I have received a somewhat overwhelming response to my request to interview liveaboard wannabees, current liveaboards, and ex-liveaboards for my website (www.SleepingWithOars.com). I appreciate everybody’s enthusiasm and desire to share personal experiences.

Every category is now filled, except “ex-liveaboards.” I’d like to find one more “ex-liveaboard” (i.e., someone who used to liveaboard but now lives on land) to interview for the website. I’ve received many, many offers from folks in the other categories and feel that these areas will be well-covered. If you happen to be an “ex-liveaboard,” and would agree to an interview, please drop me a note.

As for you “liveaboard wannabees” and current “liveaboards,” I sincerely appreciate your desire to be interviewed. Currently, I have enough interviewees to keep me busy for a while. However, once the dust settles down, I wouldn’t mind adding others to the website. So, if you fall in one of these two categories and would like to be included on the website at a later date, drop me a line. I’ll keep you in mind as the site is expanded.

Thanks again for all of your enthusiasm! I only posted the original message yesterday, and the response has been truly amazing! An interesting tidbit has emerged that I find interesting. There are a WHOLE LOT of people who are “lurking” this list (at least, according to several messages I received). Many folks have been dreaming about this lifestyle of living aboard, but can’t quite make the break from land. For what it’s worth, I’d like to encourage you lurkers to find a boat and move aboard (and maybe some of my fellow liveaboards will back me up on this). I named my boat “Candide,” after Voltaire’s book by the same name. The name means, “Optimist,” and I had an inscription engraved above the companionway that reads, “This is the best of all possible worlds…Dr. Pangloss, Voltaire’s Candide.”

I truly can’t imagine a better life than the one I’m living now on board! I urge you “lurkers” to make it happen! Hell, if I can figure out how to live aboard, anyone can! I wish all of you the best of luck! Your dream is possible…many people on this list (me included) are living proof!

    With Warmest Regards,

    -Robert Doty
