I have been getting spam at addresses that have been 'dead' for more
than 6 years. I closed an account and told them what my new address
was and they said they'd forward for a year, and I'm still getting
    mail forwarded from there.

I'm also still getting mail at an account that I closed four years ago
(I go and look at it occasionally to see what's there, but I've never
responded to anything). I haven't actually asked the providers that I
don't use anymore to drop the address. Is there another step to take?

I have also blocked an address (on AOL) from getting any mail from
anyone except my family, and had it blocked for a year or more. And
within about two weeks of unblocking it, I'm getting spam again. I
also turn AOL off completely when I go out on the boat - had been off
for six months at a time - still get 4-6 spam a day when I get back.

I have Spaminator, and the amount of spam I was getting I thought it
wasn't working - then I looked to see what it had caught.

    grandma Rosalie
