Friends: We have done our research and now this is what we are doing: I am dealing with www.floridamarinetanks.com. They have been very helpful. Since we would have to cut out a piece of the fiberglass on the starboard sail locker in order to remove and replace the 50 gallon tank, we have decided to downsize from 50 gal. to about 38gal. This way we can cut up the old tank and remove it in pieces. Then the new tank is sized to fit into the starboard sail locker. I don't think there will be a problem with cruising since we get 3 hours per gallon it will give us about 4 1/2 days of engine time. We are coastal cruisers thus would have ample opportunity to fuel up. Pamela, my navigator, advises me to also carry a couple of 6 gallon Diesel fuel containers. Since we are still in the process we are open to any and all suggestions.
