    This was a common recommendation for new engines because the synthetic oils
    were so good at eliminating friction that the bearings and rings would fail
    to "wear in" so they didn't use the whole bearing surface and the piston
    rings didn't seal well. They suggested using a regular oil until at least
    the first oil change.
