I was sure synthetic would be preferrable to regular and put it in on one
oil change. Someone on the dock told me it was a no no so I did some
research on the web. The specs for oils called out for my Ford Lehman
aren't used any more, and the oil companies do not say much about what
should or should not be used in a diesel. I vaguely remember some
discussion of the sulpher in diesel fuel converting to acid and that you
need a specific oil designed for diesel service to handle this, but I found
no reference to this. It's the only subject I have struck out on using the
internet.
I put Chevron Delo 400 back in. It's what was used in the engine from the
beginning.
