I was aboard boat at Shilshole Bay Marina in Seattle this
afternoon when a really big wake hit the boat. It didn't go away
either. After a while I went topsides to locate the miscreant who was
making such a big wake in the marina and found all the boats around me
rocking, the docks were creaking and groaning, etc. all much worse
than a big winter storm. I talked with folks who were on deck on a
neighboring boat they reported that no boats were under weigh leaving
wakes and we speculated that it had been refracted around the break
water.
This evening I heard that there had been a big earthquake in
central Alaska at the same time we had the big waking here. Reports
are that there was damage to some house barges on Lake Union where
shore connections for utilities and sewage were broken.
